Mouth Guards in Calgary, AB

Mouth guards have come a long way in the last few years. And while they still serve the same primary purpose – to protect your teeth during sports or from grinding your teeth when you sleep – there’s good reason to see a dentist like Comfort Care in Calgary, AB rather than just purchasing one online.

While a stock mouth guard can be easily purchased, little can be done to adjust its fit. This leaves room for injury in sports or inefficiency if used for sleeping. Plus, they can be bulky which makes breathing and talking difficult.

And most of all, they provide minimal protection, which is the number one reason most dentists don’t recommend their use.

Boil and bite mouth protectors also can be easily purchased. These mouth guards are made from thermoplastic material and are placed in hot water to soften before being placed in the mouth and shaped around the teeth using your fingers or tongue pressure. While these types of mouth guards offer a little better fit than stock mouth protectors, they still have their limitations.

Comfort Care Dental in Calgary, AB recommends custom-fit mouth guards since they can be conformed to your exact mouth, thereby providing maximum protection and ease of use. After all, your comfort is our priority!

First, we will make an impression of your teeth using advanced technology so the mouth guard can be molded over the model using a special material. This method is a little more expensive than stock mouth guards because of the special material and extra time and work involved, but it provides the most comfort and protection since it conforms to your mouth.

Generally, mouth guards cover the upper teeth only, but in special instances, we can make mouth guards in Calgary, AB for your lower teeth as well.

When it comes to protecting your teeth, there shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all mentality. When you book your appointment, you can rest assured that Comfort Care in Calgary, AB will provide you with a mouth guard that’s comfortable to wear, durable against wear and tear, easy to clean, and will not impair or restrict your ability to breath or speak when you wear it!
